An Introduction

My name is Karen - I love food and food loves me.  Ever since I was a kid, I loved cooking and reinventing the foods I loved.

Recently, I began a lifestyle change with the way I eat by following the 30/40/30 diet - a balanced diet that consisted of eating a daily consumption of 30% protein, 40% carbohydrates and 30% fat.  I started eating cleaner and slowly fell into the habit of eating in these macros.  But, with every lifestyle change, there were days where I would crave "unhealthy" foods that I used to eat, like macaroni & cheese, pizza or spaghetti.

Suddenly, I realized that this was an opportunity to experiment - what if I was able to recreate my favorite "unhealthy" foods and customize them to fit within the 30/40/30 diet?  I took this idea as a challenge and it's been an exciting culinary ride ever since.

You see, I realized that anyone who's trying to change the way they eat will experience challenges.  Food cravings lurk around every corner and people slip and fall sometimes.  I'm not saying that I never crave those "unhealthy" foods and that I never slip up - but if there's a way to create a strategy to eat successfully within the 30/40/30 diet by eating my favorite foods in a new way and still lose weight - why not try it?

I promise, I'm not trying to sound like a late-night informercial (LOL), but it's been working for me so far...and I can't wait to see what happens next.

This blog will feature recipes catered to the 30/40/30 diet - from classic comfort food to new inventive twists, all balanced and...ahem...healthier...:-)  I'll also cover basic cooking tips and helpful 30/40/30 tips and tools that I use on an everyday basis.  Oh, and maybe throw in some commentary along the way.

So sit back, relax and enjoy the ride!
